Element Logic delivers a custom-engineered outdoor solution for Gliderol

For more than 50 years, Gliderol has been a trusted Australian manufacturer of garage doors and access solutions for residential and commercial properties. With manufacturing facilities across Australia and a commitment to using Australian-made BlueScope steel, Gliderol delivers innovative, reliable, and high-quality products designed to enhance safety, functionality, and the overall customer experience.
Gliderol’s warehouse in Dandenong South required a safer and more effective way to store and handle doors within their existing external storage area. Gliderol partnered with Element Logic to develop an outdoor storage solution that would maximise storage capacity, protect the doors from exposure to the elements and maintain easy access for loading and retrieval.
Case: Gliderol Australia
Addressing key storage requirements
With the storage system located outdoors, the solution needed to balance product protection with efficient and safe handling.
The storage solution would need to consider:
- Accessibility: The system needed to provide operators with clear and efficient access to stored doors.
- Weather Protection: Stored doors required protection from wind, rain and environmental exposure.
- Efficient Handling: Doors needed to be easily loaded and retrieved at different shelf heights without catching structure.
- Storage Capacity: The solution needed to maximise Gliderol’s existing external storage area without requiring additional internal warehouse space.
- Structural Requirements: The outdoor installation required additional structural framing and bracing to withstand environmental loads and weather conditions.

Custom engineering meets operational
efficiency
Jonathan Iskandar, part of the Element Logic Solution Development team, worked closely with Gliderol to establish the operational priorities, storage constraints and performance requirements that would shape the solution. Element Logic Design Engineer Tim Pierre-Humbert, translated these requirements into a purpose-built outdoor storage system, engineered to maximise capacity and accessibility while meeting the structural and environmental demands of the application.
Features:
- External Storage: The system makes effective use of Gliderol’s existing outdoor area, avoiding the need to take up additional internal warehouse space.
- Purpose-built Racking: Custom racking was designed specifically around the size and shape of Gliderol’s roller doors.
- Roller-based Storage: Roller-equipped storage positions allow doors to slide smoothly in and out of the system, with a forklift roller attachment enabling efficient loading and retrieval at different shelf heights.
- Structural Framing & Bracing: Additional framing and bracing provide the structural support required for the outdoor environment.
- Integrated Cladding System: Cladding the outdoor structure required careful design in consultation with a structural engineer to ensure compliance with standards and loading requirements. The configuration and integration of the cladding were carefully considered as part of the overall structural solution.
- Sheeted Roof: A sheeted roof provides additional coverage from the elements.
- Open Access: An open side maintains easy access for efficient loading and retrieval.

“When approaching a custom solution, the first step
Tim Pierre-Humbert, Designer Engineer Element Logic
is always understanding the customer’s challenges
and requirements. Every site and operation is different,
so it’s important to take the time to understand how
products are stored, handled, and accessed. The best
outcomes come from collaboration. We work closely
with customers throughout the design process, combining their operational insight with our engineering and design expertise to create a solution that delivers the right balance of functionality, performance, and cost.”
End-to-end delivery
From initial planning through to final commissioning, Element Logic managed every stage of the project to ensure a seamless delivery experience for Gliderol. The project was supported by project manager Alex Craig and delivered by Element Logic’s installation team, with completion taking just seven days, which included comprehensive testing. By integrating this testing throughout the implementation and making refinements as required, Element Logic ensured the solution was fully aligned to Gliderol’s needs and performing as intended before handover, demonstrating the value of Element Logic’s true end-to-end capabilities.
Commitment to sustainability
Beyond improving storage capacity and efficiency, the project also aligned with Gliderol’s commitment to Australian-made manufacturing. Constructed using locally manufactured Silverline® Pallet Racking, the solution helped reduce freight-related emissions associated with imported alternatives. Based on the materials used for this project, the Australian-made steel generated approximately 87% less CO₂ than an equivalent European-sourced alternative, preventing around 600kg of CO₂ emissions.
Combined with Gliderol’s use of Australian-made BlueScope steel in its roller doors, the project reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, quality and local manufacturing.

Optimising for the future
The finished solution has helped Gliderol increase storage capacity while streamlining its loading and retrieval processes. By combining specialised racking, precise roller alignment, structural framing and weather protection, the system provides a safer and more efficient way to store and handle doors outdoors.
This project demonstrates Element Logic’s ability to go beyond standard racking and develop fully customised storage solutions around unique operational requirements. By considering product handling, accessibility, environmental exposure and precise tolerances together, the team delivered a solution specifically engineered around Gliderol’s operation

Malcolm Gregory, Operations Manager Gliderol
We’ve been really impressed with the quality of the
custom Silverline racking solution. It’s made storing
and handling our doors safer and more efficient, and
we’re now looking at rolling out the solution across
more of our sites in other states.”
