The general idea is that popular items that sell frequently are stored in front or outside of double or triple deep locations. However, the demand for each item is rarely predictable, never stable and highly seasonal, making static warehouse slotting fail.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slotting optimisation is essential but traditionally too costly for companies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/insights\/worldwide-ecommerce-sales-to-top-7-trillion\/#:~:text=The%20next%20three%20years%20also,total%20retail%20sales%20in%202012.\">With eCommerce projected to reach $7 trillion annually by 2025<\/a>, warehouses must consider solutions beyond the capabilities of human labor to rearrange inventory.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-slotting-optimisation-works-with-an-autostore-system\"><strong>How slotting optimisation<\/strong> <strong>works with an AutoStore system&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elementlogic.co.uk\/solutions\/autostore\/\">AutoStore system<\/a> eliminates manual warehouse slotting by embracing three key assumptions:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inventory is not static. Digging is mostly done during breaks or overnight when other systems sit idle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To eliminate the need for operators to wait for orders, bins are proactively positioned through a process called bin preparation that uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elementlogic.net\/uk\/insights\/warehouse-management-system\/\">warehouse management system (WMS)<\/a>.
