AutoStore\u2122 recently expanded its offerings with two new operator ports, the FusionPort\u2122, and the FusionPort Staging\u2122. The new offerings are built with three key points in mind: safety, ergonomics, and operator well-being.<\/p>\n\n

Additionally, the new ports also increase the overall versatility with considerations for robotic piece picking, more complex workflows, higher throughputs, and productivity features to boost accuracy and efficiency. As a key AutoStore<\/a> partner, we\u2019ve been testing the FusionPort\u2122 with one of our customers for the past year, and the feedback has been excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The port was installed into an existing system and is being utilized for batch picking multiple order lines during each bin presentation. While using the FusionPort\u2122 in conjunction with\u00a0eManager Software, our customer has achieved a\u00a050%+<\/strong>\u00a0improvement in operator efficiency, with peak throughputs close to\u00a0400 bins\/hr<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety, Ergonomics, and Operator Well-Being<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the new port offerings, AutoStore is pushing to help logistic operations attract and retain associates to reduce turnover and increase productivity. The FusionPort\u2122 has introduced several key associate benefits to AutoStore\u2019s port lineup with retention and associate satisfaction in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 15<\/strong>\u00b0<\/strong> forward tilt<\/strong> of the port\/workstation to decrease the physical strain on associates. The tilted work area reduces the amount of reach required for associates to pick from the back of a bin and gives greater visibility of all locations in that bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Safety hatch<\/strong> to cover the workstation while bins are being exchanged. This is a sliding plexiglass-style door that will open once an item is ready to be picked and closed once that transaction is complete. Other ports have safety features included as well, but the hatch provides a more comprehensive safety measure to help reduce workplace accidents and ensure the safety of the associate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrated pick-to-light system <\/strong>is designed to help guide the operator to the correct pick. Pick-to-light<\/a> is designed to simplify the operator workflow, decrease stress while operating the port, reduce errors, and simplify new associate training. Continuing down the ergonomics path, the FusionPorts\u2122 pick-to-light minimizes the associates\u2019 repetitive need to look at or interact with the port terminal, furthering the ergonomic benefits of this port. With the integrated PTL system, a light will illuminate the correct bin location for the operator to pick from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Productivity and Versatility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From a productivity and systems integration standpoint, the FusionPort\u2122 is designed to be the most versatile port to date. The two bin openings allow for more automated picking systems with auxiliary workflows; so a robotic picking arm can alternate which bin it is picking from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also prepare one bin while the second bin is being picked from, or utilize both port openings and increase your productivity by using your very own combination! This bin flexibility, added to the 15\u00b0 tilt, creates the most ergonomic and optimized workstation available from AutoStore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consolidation, Staging, and Battling Space Constraints<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Order consolidation at AutoStore ports is nothing new. What is unique about the FusionPort Staging\u2122 is that it combines order consolidation and staging in a single port. FusionPort Staging\u2122 allows businesses to streamline operations and reduce real estate costs<\/a> by decreasing the space required for staging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Companies can now pick from a main source bin and place the items into a target bin directly to the left or right of the main picking bin. This target bin is then taken back into AutoStore to be stored and staged until it is time to ship out. It is now possible to store consolidated orders within AutoStore in a dust free, secure, and if needed, in a temperature-controlled area for applications like\u00a0e-grocery\u00a0or micro fulfillment centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
