Element Logic Partners with Purdue to Empower the Next Generation of Engineers

Element Logic is proud to announce a strategic collaboration with Purdue University’s Polytechnic School of Engineering Technology to integrate a fully operational AutoStore system into the university’s Smart Factory lab in West Lafayette, Indiana. The installation, planned for summer 2025, marks a major milestone in Element Logic’s ongoing commitment to education, innovation, and shaping the future of intralogistics.

At Element Logic, we are not only system integrators – we are a global technology company driven by a mission to revolutionize warehousing. Our solutions combine advanced robotics, software, and deep industry expertise to deliver holistic warehouse automation tailored to our customers’ needs. This partnership with one of the United States’ most respected engineering schools demonstrates how we bring our vision to life by empowering the next generation.

A Living Lab for Future Engineers

Purdue University’s Smart Factory is a state-of-the-art educational facility where students engage directly with real-world technology. Designed to simulate the modern manufacturing environment, the lab incorporates AI-driven analytics, IoT-enabled systems, and now, Element Logic’s AutoStore solution – the compact, high-performance automated storage and retrieval system trusted by retailers and logistics providers worldwide.

This collaboration with Element Logic will allow our students to interact directly with cutting-edge automation, gaining the skills and insights that will set them apart from day one in the workforce,” said Daniel Castro, Dean of the Purdue Polytechnic.

Turning Concepts into Capabilities

The AutoStore system, integrated by Element Logic, will serve as the Smart Factory’s logistics core – mirroring the complexities, performance demands, and scalability challenges of modern warehousing. For students, this translates into a hands-on opportunity to analyze live KPIs, optimize fulfillment flows, and gain a deeper understanding of how automation drives efficiency and precision.

“Seeing our AutoStore system serve as the core warehouse solution within Purdue’s Smart Factory is a great example of how automation can bring theory into practice,” said Parth Joshi, Chief Product Officer at AutoStore.

Steve Musick, Smart Manufacturing Engineer at Purdue, emphasized the significance of this addition: “AutoStore’s leading-edge technology and proven scalability made it an ideal choice. Robert and the Element Logic team immediately understood our vision and were passionate about turning it into reality.”

A Partnership to Move Things Forward

As the original AutoStore partner and a global leader in warehouse automation, Element Logic brings decades of experience in optimizing warehouse performance. Our ability to design, integrate, and continuously improve systems is built on three pillars: passionate people, advanced technology, and proven experience.

Together, we are preparing future generations to rethink and reimagine how goods move through tomorrow’s supply chains.

Robert Humphry, Executive Vice President at Element Logic.

“Purdue’s Smart Factory is already the nation’s most comprehensive smart-manufacturing learning environment – and we are proud that a fully functioning AutoStore grid empowered by Element Logic will now serve as its warehouse ‘heart’. Together, we are preparing future generations to rethink and reimagine how goods move through tomorrow’s supply chains.” said Robert Humphry, Executive Vice President at Element Logic.

This collaboration is more than a system installation – it is a long-term investment in education, talent development, and innovation. As we minimize complexity and maximize performance, we reaffirm our belief that intelligent, scalable automation is key to building more sustainable, flexible, and resilient logistics ecosystems worldwide.
