Our 2025 Internship Shapes Tomorrow’s Warehouse Innovation

Each year a familiar buzz of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration fills our offices – and 2025 was no different. The Element Logic Internship has become more than a seasonal tradition.
It is now a cornerstone of our company culture, giving rise to fresh thinking, real-world problem-solving, and an opportunity to show the next generation of innovators what it means to be in their Element.
This year’s internship was a clear reflection of our company DNA: Driven by technology. Powered by people. Proven through experience. Eight talented students from top academic institutions joined our Research and Development department to dive headfirst into two critical projects aimed at pushing the boundaries of warehouse automation.

This year’s internship brought us closer to real business impact than ever before. It is inspiring to see how bold thinking and fresh perspectives can accelerate innovation when paired with real-world problems and high-performing individuals.

Real Challenges. Real Ownership. Real Impact.
At Element Logic, interns are not given theoretical tasks. They are invited to contribute to real projects that shape our future direction – because we believe in learning by doing, not by observing.
This time the interns were split into two specialized groups, each working on distinctly different – but equally important – challenges:
- One group focused on our eOperator solution, with a sharp lens on how Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) can unlock new possibilities for robotic piece picking. Their mission? To explore whether AMRs can offer a commercially viable alternative to traditional conveyor-based setups – especially in scenarios where space constraints or cost inefficiencies limit conventional solutions. Through practical experimentation and scenario analysis, the group mapped out how AMRs can bring flexibility, scalability, and efficiency to robotic picking workflows.
- The other group tackled the future of digital twin technology, developing early-stage models within our eLogiq platform. Building on an ongoing collaboration with SINTEF, they explored how simulation-based models can be used to predict and test warehouse operations in a virtual environment – enabling more confident decision-making before implementing changes in the physical world.
What set this year apart was not only the relevance of the challenges but how the interns were empowered to take full ownership. As Software Engineer Nils Stanhelle explains:
“We do not give interns a list of tasks to complete – we give them real problems to solve. They own the process, and we give them the tools and support to find the answers themselves. It is an approach that builds independence, fosters creativity, and brings great value to Element Logic.”

Why It Matters – to Us and to Them
Attracting the brightest young minds is not just about recruiting talent; it is about building a future-ready company. These internships allow us to cultivate long-term relationships with students who are brave enough to challenge norms, passionate about their craft, and reliable in their execution – values that mirror our own.
Do not be afraid to think big – Element Logic lets you explore ideas and experiment, and they genuinely value new perspectives.
Didier Mupenda – Intern
For us at Element Logic, the internship program supports innovation from the inside out. The interns help us see our challenges from new perspectives and stretch our thinking in ways only fresh eyes can. In return, they get more than just an internship. They gain experience that prepares them for the real world, boosts their confidence, and connects them to a company where people and technology thrive together.
As Christian Rognes, Group Chief Product Officer, noted:
“What has been particularly exciting this year is how closely the interns worked with real business problems – more so than ever before. The results have had immediate impact on our thinking and direction. And the quality of the students has been exceptional: high energy, brave, optimistic, and willing to challenge us. That is the kind of mindset we want at Element Logic.”
And judging by the enthusiasm at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) career fair – where we received over 130 applications for only 8 positions – Element Logic is becoming a highly sought-after destination for tech-savvy students.
It has been an amazing experience to work at the forefront of warehouse automation – and feel like we are truly contributing to the team and the company.
Simon Berg Kjellsen – Intern
An internship That Sticks
While their internship with us may now be over, the impact of their contributions – and the relationships formed – will last far beyond the final presentation day. The interns of 2025 have helped us explore new paths, ask the right questions, and keep our ambition to revolutionize warehousing burning bright.
To all our interns: Thank you for your ideas, your energy, and your willingness to be part of something bigger. You leave behind more than just PowerPoints and prototypes – you leave behind inspiration.
We are already looking forward to next year’s internships.
