Intralogistics from a Generation Z point of view

How will the industry develop in the next 20 years? We asked some of the best students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to help us find the answer.

“I am very impressed with how much the students managed to achieve in a short period of time! The material we are left with, everything from brainstorming and structuring to the final concept, is very extensive. I am looking forward to working further with this in the next strategy process,” Dag-Adler Blakseth, CEO of Element Logic, says.

Approximately 40 students were given the task of looking into the future and come up with ideas around new trends and future concepts in the next 10-20 years. The students were introduced to Element Logic as a company, the current situation in intralogistics and megatrends in the market. Technologies in the 4th industrial revolution as well as the need for sustainable solutions, and consumers’ requirements and behaviours were also discussed with the students.

Entrepreneurial mindset

“The goal of the workshop was to engage interdisciplinary generation Z students with a high degree of an entrepreneurial mindset. We hope to better understand what the intralogistics industry in 2030-2040 will look like” Sutharshan Nadarajah, Technology Director in Element Logic, says.

Exciting proposals

After a whole day of working in groups at the NTNU School of Entrepreneurship, the groups presented exciting proposals within future-oriented technology solutions, innovative business models, sustainable solutions focusing on sharing and circular economy as well as various social aspects.

“The workshop with the facilitator EGGS Design and Element Logic has been a real eye-opener for the great opportunities in automation and artificial intelligence in logistics”, one of the students participating in the workshop says.
